5 Titanium Pot Soups That Feed the Whole Family

5 Titanium Pot Soups That Feed the Whole Family

Soup is the original one-pot meal. Everything goes in a single vessel, simmers together, and comes out as a complete dinner. No side dishes needed. One pot, one batch, four full bowls.

These five recipes are designed for the Valtcan 1800ml Titanium Pressure Pot. Each one produces 4 generous servings from a single batch. The titanium body means every soup - including tomato-based and acidic ones - tastes clean and pure, with nothing coming off the pot into the bowl.

Note on pressure times: All times calibrated for the Valtcan's 35 kPa operating pressure (~108-110°C at sea level). If using a standard pressure cooker (70-80 kPa), reduce pressure times by about 30%.

1. Classic Chicken Noodle Soup

Heat 1 tablespoon oil. Add 1 diced onion, 2 diced carrots, 2 diced celery stalks - cook 3 minutes. Add 300g chicken breast or thighs (whole), 4 cups chicken broth, 1 bay leaf, half teaspoon thyme, salt and pepper.

Pressure (35 kPa): Lock lid. Cook 15 minutes. Natural release 5 minutes. Remove chicken, shred with two forks, return to pot. Add 1 cup egg noodles. Cover with unlocked lid and simmer 6-8 minutes until pasta is tender.

Standard: Simmer 30 minutes. Remove and shred chicken. Add noodles, simmer 8 minutes.

Finish with lemon and fresh parsley. Feeds 4.

Tips for Perfect Pot Soups

Don't overfill. For pressure cooking, fill no more than two-thirds full.

Build flavor in layers. Always sauté aromatics before adding liquid. This 2-3 minutes of dry-heat cooking develops deeper flavor.

Season at the end. Salt and acid are best added after pressure cooking. Pressure concentrates flavors - what tastes perfectly seasoned before cooking may taste over-salted after.

Let soup rest 5 minutes before serving. Flavors meld and the soup thickens slightly as it cools.

Every soup freezes well. Portion and freeze within 2 hours of cooking. Reheat directly from frozen in the same titanium pot. Soups with pasta should have pasta cooked fresh when reheating (frozen pasta gets mushy).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these soups on a campfire? Yes, every recipe works on any heat source. At camp, use the standard method on a grill grate, or bring to pressure on a portable stove.

How long do leftover soups last in the fridge? 3-5 days in sealed containers. Soups with dairy: 3 days. Bean and lentil soups keep the longest.

Can kids eat these soups? Absolutely. Adjust spice levels for younger palates - reduce or omit chili and curry paste. Chicken noodle and potato soups are particularly kid-approved.

What's the best soup for meal prep? Minestrone and creamy tomato keep well, reheat perfectly, and improve in flavor over 2-3 days. Avoid meal-prepping soups with egg noodles - cook noodles fresh when reheating.
