The Material Argument
Inert Metal, Nothing Added
Plastic off-gasses. Aluminum oxidizes and reacts with anything acidic. Steel can hold a faint metallic odor that transfers to delicate goods like loose-leaf tea and roasted coffee. Coated tins chip and leach whatever was in the coating. Grade 1 commercially pure titanium is biologically inert, the same material trusted in surgical implants. It reacts with nothing. Your Earl Grey tastes like Earl Grey six months later. The canister itself adds nothing to what is stored inside.

Grade 1 titanium is non-reactive and dimensionally stable across a wide temperature range, so the press-fit tolerance that seals it cold still seals it warm. No coating to abrade, no elastomer to take a compression set, no galvanic pairing to worry about. If you evaluate gear on materials and tolerances rather than marketing, this is a container with almost nothing left to go wrong.

What Plastic Cannot Do
Heatable. On an Open Flame.
Titanium handles direct fire without damage or degradation. Empty it, pull the lid, and the body itself becomes a small heating cup or an emergency tinder cup at a fire lay. Use it near flame long enough and titanium develops its natural blue, gold, and bronze heat patina. That coloring is purely cosmetic and changes nothing about how it performs. No plastic or coated tin will ever offer you that option.
